As Executive Vice President for Corporate Development and Governmental Relations, Rick Beeson’s distinguished financial services career spans 41 years – including 31 years with Sunrise Banks; 20 of which he served as President and CEO of Sunrise-owned Park Midway Bank in St. Paul.
Prior to joining Sunrise, Rick was employed with the City of St. Paul’s Department of Planning and Economic Development as senior project manager. Among the honors bestowed upon Rick throughout his career are the City of St. Paul’s Outstanding Employee Award, Saint Paul & Midway Chamber Volunteer of the Year, Minnesota Bankers Champion of the Year, SBA’s Minnesota Financial Services Person of the Year and the YMCA Distinguished Leader Award.
As a sought-after thought leader on banking issues and as a business leader who is passionately interested in the community, Rick’s comments have appeared in the Minneapolis Star Tribune, St. Paul Pioneer Press, Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal and on Minnesota Public Radio. He has served as treasurer for the St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Arts and St. Paul RiverCentre Authority, and as chair of the St. Paul Area Chamber of Commerce and the Midway Chamber of Commerce. Rick was the founding chair of the Central Corridor Partnership, tirelessly advocating for construction of the Green Line LRT. Since 2009, he has served as a Regent of the University of Minnesota including holding the position as chair of the board. Currently, he is co-chair of Mayor Carter’s College Savings Account initiative.
Rick earned an MBA from the University of St. Thomas and a BA in political science from the University of Minnesota. Spoiling his two grandson and relaxing at his lake home in central Minnesota are a few of his passions.
